Parent Focus Group

This year’s final meeting of the Parent Focus Group took place on Tuesday 7th May. Once again there was a packed agenda and we struggled to finish after the 2 hours. We were lucky enough to have a tour of the new building and see the fantastic space that has now been created for our children. Its such an exciting time for Strandtown and we are delighted that the first classes will be moving in next week.   Other areas discussed during the meeting were

  • Results of parent survey – 144 people responded to the survey which is slightly lower than last year but Mrs Hutchinson and her team will take time to review these and take on board your invaluable feedback
  • We were asked for our feedback on parent teacher interviews – how effective are these and how could they improve?
  • It was really disappointing that only 10 people attended the recent event organised for parents on Cyber security on 1st May.  Mrs Hutchinson however was still keen to get our feedback on what events would be attractive for parents so these evenings are beneficial
  • We discussed the recent school concert and how great it was to see all of our choirs participating
  • We discussed the P7 leavers concert coming up in June
  • School dinner menu – agreed that we need to make it clearer on the website as to what week the menu is following so it makes it easier for us parents to get organised for the week with dinner money

The Parent Focus Group has made a difference at Strandtown,  as the majority of our feedback/suggestions are taken on board. There are a number of parents leaving this year and it’s a fantastic opportunity for you to get involved in giving something back to the school. Watch out for the first meeting of the new term and put your name forward if interested.   Thanks
