Delamont Day 2

29th May 2019

Well we made it to the end of day 2! Despite the advanced duvet workshop from yesterday, all seemed to sleep well. I've never seen so many children so quiet at breakfast this morning. Our cunning plan to exhaust them appears to be working. The sun may have disappeared but the grey skies couldn't dampen our spirits as we headed out in canoes onto Strangford Lough. With 2 canoes lashed together and 5 in each, progress should have been 'smooth' but some unique paddling techniques made for an altogether slower journey. A brief stop on one of the many islands for refreshments and some mass hysteria at the sight of a crab and we were on our way again.

The afternoon session was a mix of mountain biking, climbing wall and archery, although not all at the same time! The weather stayed mainly kind to us and by teatime, the lasagne was practically inhaled. A long walk around the forest park followed to test out the hiking boots for tomorrow's adventure into the Mournes. Although I suspect the trip to Maud's in Newcastle is higher on a few pupils' priority list. 2 scoops of salted caramel and honeycomb should keep me quiet for 10 minutes. Enjoy the photos from today and we'll check in again tomorrow evening.
